Alas terms and conditions like these must necessarily be long, detailed, and slightly dull. They are however vital for the customer and the retailer, they are designed to making sure your shopping experience as painless, secure and safe as possible.

These terms and conditions apply to all customers buying goods on By making a purchase you are agreeing to our terms and conditions. These Terms can change at any time, and it is up to you to review this document each time you make a purchase

Terms & Conditions (Online Orders Only)


These terms & conditions set out the terms between you the customer and MCA (Market Cross Alston) and shall apply to all goods supplied by MCA Your use of this website and any service contained within constitutes acceptance of these terms & conditions in full.  You should not use this website if you do not accept with these terms & conditions in full.


Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and MCA will take place on the dispatch of the products ordered by you, unless we have notified you, that we do not accept your order or you have cancelled it in accordance with the instructions in Ordering Information. Non-acceptance of an order may be a result of one of the following:

If there are any problems with your order, you will be contacted by a member of our team.

We reserve the right to reject any offer to purchase by you at any time. We will take all reasonable care, in so far as it is in our power to do so, to keep the details of your order and payment secure but, in the absence of negligence on our part, we cannot be held liable for any loss you may suffer if a third party gains unauthorised access to any data you provide when accessing or ordering from the Website.  We do not store any of your card details.

Contract Cancellation

You are entitled to cancel this contract if you wish to do so, provided you exercise your right no longer than 7 working days after the day on which you receive your delivery. To exercise your right of cancellation you must initially contact us by telephone on 01434 382534 (please see our opening hours) as soon as possible and then give written notice to MCA via letter or email with full details of your order.

If you exercise your right of cancellation after the item or items have been delivered, or the items are in transit to you, you will be responsible for returning your order to MCA at your own cost.  We will refund you, crediting the cost of the item only, we will not credit any delivery charge and you will be responsible for any delivery charges to return the item.

Further, you must take reasonable care to ensure the items are not damaged in the meantime or whilst in transit. MCA reserves the right to refuse a refund on the item, if we find that the product has not been returned to us in fully resalable condition and in the original undamaged box or packaging (outer packaging and packing excluded)

Products that fall into the following categories will not be refunded unless they are proven to be faulty;

If you wish to exercise your right to cancel this contract prior to order dispatch (excluding items made or ordered in especially for customers) , please email or call 01434 382534 immediately.  If your order has already been dispatched please follow the procedure set out in Returns.   

If you received an incorrect or faulty item, We will arrange to have the item collected and will endeavour to send you a replacement, subject to availability. If we do not hold stock ourselves we will contact our supplier and, replacement items will be provided, subject to availability.  If this is not possible, we will refund you, crediting the cost of the item and delivery to your payment card

This does not affect your statutory rights.

Description of Products

Each product purchased is sold subject to its Product Description. We will take all reasonable care to ensure that all details, descriptions and prices of products appearing on the Website are correct at the time when the relevant information was entered onto the system. Slight colour variations are unavoidable due to different monitors and display screens MCA accept no responsibility for such discrepancies.  Although we aim to keep the Website as up to date as possible, the information, including Product Descriptions, appearing on this Website at a particular time may not always reflect the position at the exact moment you place an order.

In accepting these Conditions you agree to provide MCA truthful and accurate information and act in accordance with the Licensing Act of 1964.


We accept Pay pal and most valid debit and credit cards.

All prices are inclusive of VAT (where applicable) at the current rates and are correct at the time of entering the information onto the system. The total cost of your order is the price of the products ordered which may not always include delivery.

You confirm that the credit or debit card that is being used is yours. All credit / debit cardholders are subject to validation checks and authorisation by the card issuer. If the issuer of your payment card refuses to or does not, for any reason, authorise payment to us, we will not be liable for any delay or non-delivery.


On point of purchase MCA will take full payment.

Lead Times (Lead time is the period between a customer's order and delivery of the final product to MCA’s warehouse)

Product Delivery Lead Times (product delivery lead-times is the period between a customers order delivery from our warehouse to the customers requested destination)

1) Our product lead-times are non-binding estimates only, and we shall not be liable for any delay in delivery of, or failure to deliver, any products arising from any failure by any of our suppliers to do so.  We shall not be liable for any breach of contract or inability to perform any of our obligations due to longer lead times than we have estimated.

2) Our product delivery lead-times may be extended in any event  including and without limitation, labour disputes, vehicle breakdowns, disruptive weather, illness or any other occurrence beyond our control, if that event prevents, hinders or delays the delivery of the products in question. We shall not be liable for any breach of contract or inability to perform any of our obligations.

Contract Cancellation and Returns Procedure for Furniture and other high value items (over £200.00)  Online Orders Only

Important  If we order furniture or high value items in especially for the customer it is made to order.  In these circumstances as soon as you place your order online it can not be cancelled.  In some cases if manufacture has not comenced and/or your order has not been loaded for delivery to ourselves we may be able to refund your payment if you contact us within 7 days of placing your order.   If after after 7 days of placing your order you wish to cancel and you have paid in full, we will offer a 50% refund if you no longer require your furniture

For stock items you are entitled to cancel this contract if you wish to do so, provided you exercise your right no longer than 7 working days after the day on which you receive your delivery.  This does not include any items not normally held in stock at MCA’s premises which have been ordered especially for the customer (furniture on display in our showroom is not regarded as held in stock).   If you have been given a lead time your furniture or large item has been especially ordered in for you.  All of the furniture offered on this website will be made or ordered in for our customers so please be aware you will not be entitled to cancel your contract and no refund will be offered.

To exercise your right of cancellation you must give written notice to MCA via letter or email with full details of your order. If you wish to cancel this contract once your order has been dispatched please note the following procedure will apply:

Should you wish to return a furniture item we will arrange to collect this item from you and will apply an appropriate collection charge. The collection charge will be the same cost as the original delivery charge levied and will be deducted from the refund value when processed. If the original delivery charge was free then a charge of £75 for the collection will be charged. To arrange a collection please contact US on 01434 382534 .  You will be reimbursed to the card with which you paid for the goods once the goods have been received back into our Distribution Centre.

Please note that your original delivery charges will not be refunded. A refund of the delivery charge will only be given in the instance of incorrect, damaged or faulty goods.  In the unlikely event that your furniture arrives damaged or faulty please call 01434 382534 immediately.  MCA may ask you to send images of the fault.

Large Furniture

Please see our DELIVERY Page for costs.  You will be advised on the cost of delivery prior to acceptance of your order and payment in full will be required before fulfilment.

Access Check

Large pieces of furniture and large or very heavy items will be delivered by our own specialist delivery team and are sold with the agreement that the item will fit into the customer’s chosen destination.  It is the customer’s responsibility to make sure that the item they are purchasing will fit through the access doors and corridors and into the chosen room.

If it is found upon delivery, that the item does not fit into the property the delivery team will inform the customer.  If the item was not normally held in stock at  MCA’s premises and has been ordered especially for the customer MCA will arrange to deliver to an alternative destination, this option will incur a delivery charge paid by the customer, we will if required to do so, store the item until the customer can make alternative arrangements for a maximum period of 4 weeks from the original delivery date.  Alternatively we will take back the item refund 50%of the purchase price and keep the remaining 50 % of the value of the item to cover the costs of delivery, return and storage of the item until it can be resold (usually at a reduced price).

If it is apparent upon delivery that the item will only fit into the property with great difficulty, the delivery team will inform the customer of their concerns. If the customer still insists the delivery will be attempted.

MCA is not liable for any damage to the item or property which may occur during delivery. If damage does occur to the item being delivered, MCA can give advise and help to find a solution to repair the damage, but this will be at the customer’s cost.

MCA will make deliveries to a room of your choice, garage or outbuilding at customer’s risk only.  MCA or anyone employed by MCA accept no responsibility whatsoever for damage resulting from such deliveries. This includes, but is not limited to,  driveways, and paths, walls, fencing, gardens and lawns, all interior walls, flooring, carpets, ornaments, furniture, wall art or paintings, doors, door frames, windows or any other glass.

Most of our furniture is assembled and only requires minimum effort to set up such as putting feet on a sofa or attaching the legs to a table-top. However to aid delivery and keep costs down some bulky items such as wardrobes do require full assembly, this is the responsibility of the customer but in most cases our delivery team will assemble your furniture and remove all packaging although this is not part of our contract and is at the discretion of our delivery team. When requesting the delivery vehicle to come onto private property and the delivery team into your premises, you are in agreement to all of the above terms and acknowledge that any damage incurred during this delivery is your responsibility and NOT the responsibility of MCA or any of it’s employees.

If we attempt to make a delivery on the delivery date/time slot that you have accepted and no one is present to receive the goods, necessitating a repeat delivery, you will incur a repeat delivery charge equal to that which has been charged, which must be paid prior to the redelivery. If the original delivery was free, then the applicable delivery charge for the size of item will be made, based on the largest item and mileage to destination in your order.  You may have to wait for up to 30 days before we can deliver again in your area.  (Our delivery team are on a tight schedule so in order that we do not let other customers down with their requested time slot they can wait for a maximum of 15 minutes should you not be present at the pre arranged time slot)

If your goods remain at our warehouse for more than six weeks, during which time you fail to accept delivery/redelivery (despite MCA having contacted you to do so), you may incur storage charges of £15 per week. We also reserve the right to cancel your order and retain up to 50% of you order value.


We will contact you when the item you have ordered is available to be collected from our store, or if it will soon be available for delivery. At that time, we will arrange a convenient time for delivery to you.  In most cases we operate a 2 person delivery team.  Occasionally if the customer has requested a delivery time when only a 1 person delivery service is available the customer may need to help the driver offload and lift the furniture or heavy item.  MCA do not accept no responsibility for any injury which may occur to the customer or any other person delegated by the customer to help with the lifting or manoeuvring of any item supplied by MCA.  We will always inform you if a 2 person delivery service is not available

Any difficulty in delivering the item into your premises may incur additional charges. If you require a special delivery, for example up or down several flights of stairs, or where additional equipment is required please inform us prior to delivery.  Any extra charges are to be paid by you, the customer.

Short Delivery, Defective Goods or Damaged Goods

We strongly advise you to thoroughly check your goods upon receipt. To protect your interests, any claim concerning short delivery and/or damaged and/or defective goods found on delivery, must be notified to our Alston Store immediately on 01434 382534.  We do not accept any claims for damage caused by you the customer.

Refusal of Transaction

We reserve the right to withdraw any products from this Website at any time and/or remove or edit any materials or content on this Website. We may refuse to process a transaction for any reason or refuse service to anyone at any time at our sole discretion. We will not be liable to you or any third party by reason of our withdrawing any product from this Website whether or not that product has been sold, removing or editing any materials or content on the Website, refusing to process a transaction or unwinding or suspending any transaction after processing has begun.

To be eligible to purchase products on this Website and lawfully enter into and form contracts on this Website under English law you must:
